SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team fell to No. 19 AIC 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the MassMutual Center.

The game started off relatively even with both sides seeing chances in the first period. The Crusaders created multiple power play scoring chances but weren't able to convert. The defense and Erik Gordon stood strong on the kill to keep the game scoreless.

The Yellow Jacket offense took control in the second period, scoring three goals and outshooting the Crusaders 19-7 in the frame.

Holy Cross regained some footing in the third, limiting AIC's chances and keeping them from adding another score. The Crusaders created a couple one-on-one opportunities in the final frame, but the Yellow Jacket netminder came up big to keep them off the board.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Gordon made 31 saves on the day.
• AIC held the advantage in shots 34-20.
• Ryan Leibold won a team-high nine faceoffs.

Holy Cross will host Air Force for a pair of games next weekend on Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6. Both contests will begin at 6 p.m.
