Women’s lacrosse drops game at Siena, 13-7

LOUNDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team dropped their first game of the 2020 season, falling 13-7 to Siena. The Crusaders now stand 3-1 on the season. Despite an even game through the majority of action, Siena kicked off a five-goal run with 5:17 to play to take the game. Jolie Creo, Bryn Carroll, and Kara McDuffee each picked up two goals.
 
Izzy Grant tallied up her fourth of the year as she started Holy Cross' offense at the 23-minute mark. The Crusaders scored three goals in less than five minutes to lead, 3-0. At 15:54, the Saints responded with three goals of their own and knotted the game with 12:46 remaining in the first quarter.
 
Bryn Carroll scored her second of the game to put Holy Cross ahead for the final time, 4-3. The Saints took a 5-4 lead to close the half.
 
Grace Flink made seven saves in the first half, while the Crusaders registered nine shots on frame.
 
The Saints extended their lead early in the second half, 6-4. Kara McDuffee rattled off two goals to even up the score at 6-6 for a final time.
 
Siena outscored Holy Cross 7-1 from the 10:44 mark on to take the game. Creo picked up her team-leading 14th goal of the season in that time.
 
Flink finished the game with 12 saves.

  • Siena held a 34-24 shot advantage and a 25-17 shots on goal advantage.
  • The Saints won the draw control battle, edging the Crusaders, 12-10.
