WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's lacrosse team took down Hartford in a midday non-conference match up, 19-5. The Crusaders outscored the Hawks, 13-1, in the first half, led by
Jolie Creo who scored four goals.
The Crusaders offense came out to a quick start, with Creo scoring 62 seconds into the game and the team taking a 5-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game.
Shannon Dudeck,
Izzy Grant, and
Mairead Anderson all scored in the run.
Holy Cross continued to control the game with seven more goals to take a 12-0 lead before the three-minute mark of the first half. With 2:32 to play, Hartford got on the board for its lone score of the first half.
Maggie Moriarty scored back-to-back goals to close the first half and open the second half. At 27:05,
Finley Cassidy scored her first career goal with
Jenna Giardina earning the assist for her first collegiate point, 15-1.
The Hawks went on a three goal run over a six-minute period to close the Crusaders' lead to 15-4.
With 3:41 remaining in the game, Holy Cross closed the game on a three goal run. Grant and Cassidy each picked up their second of the game while
Anna Fraschilla posted her first-collegiate goal from a quick clear effort by the Crusaders.
