Men’s lacrosse takes down Harvard for third-consecutive season

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's lacrosse program topped Harvard for the third-consecutive season with a 9-8 victory at Kuzniewski Field. The win brings the Crusaders to their best start since 1981 with a 4-1 record. In the game, Justin Lynskey led Holy Cross with four points from three goals and one assist.
 
Harvard's offense got out to a hot start, scoring four goals before the 6:44 mark of the opening quarter, to lead, 4-0. The Crimson lead held at 4-0 until Dean DiNanno tallied his first of the game with help from fellow rookie Cameron Magolotti. With six seconds remaining in the first quarter, Lynskey started his scoring and brought Holy Cross within two, 4-2.
 
The Crusaders took off in the second quarter, scoring four goals and keeping the Crimson to just one shot on goal, that Jonathan Tesoro turned aside. Will Spangenberg, DiNanno, Jayce Lambert, and Lynskey scored in that time to put Holy Cross ahead, 6-4 at half time.
 
In the third quarter, Harvard brought the game within one with the lone goal, 6-5.
 
Both teams found three goals in the final 15 minutes, with Lynskey, Spangenberg, and Kevin Kodzis rattling off goals. Holy Cross held a 9-6 lead with 11:03 to play in the game. Harvard attempted a comeback, but was ultimately halted in the last possession of the game as Killian Morrissey picked up a timely ground ball to persevere the victory.
