Men's hockey hosts Bentley Wednesday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team will face Bentley this Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Hart Center. The Crusaders last saw the Falcons last Tuesday, Dec. 1 when Holy Cross traveled to Bentley and won the 2-1 contest in overtime.

Talking Points:
  • The Crusaders split a pair of games last weekend against Sacred Heart, dropping the first 2-1 before coming back to win the second 6-3.
  • Erik Gordon played both games in goal making 49 saves for a .907 save percentage on the weekend. The junior improved to 3-1-0 on the year with a .914 save percentage and a 1.99 goals against average.
  • Alex Peterson led the way against Sacred Heart as he recorded three points from two goals and one assist. Other multipoint scorers on the weekend include Ryan Leibold (G, A), Jack Robilotti (G, A), and Anthony Vincent (2 A).
  • On the season, Peterson leads the team with six points, while Logan Ferguson, Leibold, and Vincent are all tied for second with four.
  • The D pair of Logan Milliken and Frank Boie lead the team at +5 on the year. Milliken also has a team-high nine blocked shots.
  • To this point in the year, the Crusaders are converting on 14.3% of their power plays while killing 86.7% of the penalties they have faced.
  • Holy Cross is averaging 36.6 shots per game which is good for second in all of Atlantic Hockey. It's 3.2 goals per game is third.
Scouting Bentley:
  • Bentley went 1-1 last week after dropping its first game of the season to Holy Cross. The Falcons split a pair with Army, winning the first 4-2 before dropping the second 2-0.
  • Matt Gosiewski leads the Falcons with three points on the year with three assists. Michael Zuffante leads the team with two goals.
  • Freshman Nicholas Grabko has played every game in goal for Bentley, posting a .940 save percentage and a 1.66 goals against average.
  • The Falcons have scored on two of their eight power play opportunities for a 25% conversion rate and have been perfect on the penalty kill through three games, killing all 12.

  • The Crusaders picked up their first Atlantic Hockey victory of the season on Tuesday, a 2-1 overtime victory at Bentley. Andrew Dumaresque scored the game-winner when he stole the puck at Holy Cross' blue line and finished off a breakaway by beating the Falcon goalie through the five-hole.
  • Freshman Jack Robilotti scored the first Crusader goal in that game, his first collegiate tally. Logan Ferguson and Alex Peterson assisted Robilotti on the play.
