Men's hockey downs Bentley 2-1 in overtime

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team took down Bentley, 2-1, in overtime Tuesday night to earn its first 3-on-3 victory in its first Atlantic Hockey game of the season.

The Crusaders fell behind in the first period when they were outshot by the Falcons 10-7. They quickly turned things around in the second and outshot Bentley 21-10 the rest of the way to earn the victory.

Freshman Jack Robilotti scored his first collegiate goal to tie things up in the second frame, before senior Andrew Dumaresque sealed the victory with the first game-winning goal of his career.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1-0 BEN (1st, 18:54, PP): Bentley's Jakov Novak put the Falcons on top late in the first off a one-timer on the power play.
1-1 HC (2nd, 5:04, EV): Logan Ferguson crashed the net hard on the right side and deflected the puck out to a trailing Robilotti who put it away with authority.
2-1 HC (OT, 16:49, EV): Dumaresque collected a loose puck on the Crusaders' blue line and took it on a breakaway before depositing the game-winner through the five-hole.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Ferguson picked up the assist on Robilotti's goal to earn his team-leading third point of the year.
  • The victory snaps a five-game winless skid against Bentley with the last Crusader win coming on Feb. 22, 2019.
  • Holy Cross outdueled the Falcons at the faceoff dot, 31-26.
  • Erik Gordon picked up his second win of the year in goal, making 19 saves in the process.
