Women's hockey travels to Boston College, Vermont

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team will travel to both Boston College and Vermont this weekend in a pair of Hockey East matchups. The Crusaders will face the Eagles this Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. before going up to Burlington, Vt. for a meeting with the Catamounts on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.

Talking Points
• The Crusaders faced off against New Hampshire in a pair of games last weekend.
Antonia Matzka and Emma Lange continued the trend of Crusader defensemen putting the puck in the back of the net as they each scored in the second game against the Wildcats.
Charlotte Abrecht recorded an assist on Matzka's goal for the first point of her career. Lange's goal was unassisted.
• Lange and Matzka are now third and fourth on the team respectively  in points. Lange has two goals and four assists for six points on the year, a career high, while Matzka has scored three times and added two assists for five points. Matzka's three goals are tied for the team lead and tops amongst defensemen. 
• Since the start of the new year, Jada Brenon has made 278 saves for a .921 save percentage.

D Scoring
• The last five Crusaders goals, and eight of the previous ten, have been scored by five different defensemen.
• Matzka leads the way with three over that stretch, while Lange has two and Kailey Langefels, Victoria Young, and Allison Attea have each chipped in one.

Top of the Class
• The Crusader freshman sit atop all three scoring categories having accounted for 29.2% of the team's goals, 33.3% of the assists, and 31.7% of the points.
• In goals, after the freshman the sophomores and juniors are tied at 25% followed by the seniors at 20.8%.
• In assists, the seniors are second at 30.6%, the sophomores are next at 19.4%, and then the juniors at 16.7%.
• In terms of overall scoring, after the freshmen come the seniors at 26.6%, the sophomores at 21.7%, and the juniors at 20%.

Scouting the Eagles
• Kelly Browne leads BC with 30 points on the year from 10 goals and a team-high 20 assists. 
• Delaney Belinskas paces the Eagles with 15 goals on the year.
• In goal, Maddy McArthur has a team-best .909 save percentage and a 2.53 goals against average.
• The Eagles are converting on the power play 15.4% of the time, while killing 83% of their penalties.

Scouting the Catamounts
• Vermont is led by Maude Poulin-Labelle with 23 points on the season from 11 goals and 12 assists. 
• Sini Karjalainen leads the team with 17 assists and Corinne McCool has a team-high 12 goals. 
• Blanka Skodova leads the Catamounts in both save percentage with a .891 and goals against average at 2.50.
• Vermont scores on 18.1% of its power plays and kills 78.1% of its penalties.
