Frey, Smiley lead women's track and field at Terrier Classic

BOSTON – The Holy Cross women's track and field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University, on Friday, Jan. 24.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Senior Caroline Frey placed fifth in the 400 meters with a school-record and ECAC-qualifying time of 55.78 seconds.
  • Senior Allie Smiley won the long jump, leaping 5.85 meters – just short of her school record of 5.88 meters – and qualifying for the ECAC Championships. She also ran a New England-qualifying time of 7.92 seconds in the prelims of the 60 meter dash.
  • Junior Christa Jay Moore was second in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC standard at 3.85 meters. Freshman Annie Lineberger was seventh, also reaching an ECAC-qualifying mark at 3.65 meters.
  • Sophomore Jordyn Shubrick placed seventh in the weight throw, posting an ECAC-qualifying mark of 16.14 meters.
  • Junior Marina Mackinnon finished eighth in the 500 meters, clocking in at a New England-qualifying time of 1:16.30. Sophomore Grace Hoelscher also qualified for New Englands with a 24th-place finish in a time of 1:17.56.
  • Sophomore Kelsey O'Hara had a New England-qualifying time of 2:14.84 in the 800 meters, finishing in 28th place.
  • Senior Allison McArdle qualified for New Englands with a time of 2:56.36 in the 1,000 meters.
  • Senior Jenna Gasparrini ran a time of 9:59.70 in the 3,000 meters to place 31st and qualify for New Englands. Sophomore Michaela Halloran also posted a New England-qualifying time at 10:17.11.
  • Junior Abbie Mokwuah had a New England-qualifying throw of 12.88 meters in the shot put, placing eighth.
  • Freshman Cymeria Robshaw won the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.93 seconds.
  • Frey, Mackinnon, junior Riemke Bouvier and freshman Laura Turner teamed up to run a time of 3:54.64 in the 4x400 meter relay, placing eighth.

  • Select athletes will compete at the New England Championship on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
