NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team tied Niagara, 2-2, in regulation and went on to take the extra point with a shootout victory.
Matt Radomsky made 39 saves in the game to lead the Crusaders to finish the weekend series at Niagara with five-of-six points.
The Purple Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the first with one goal just over the mid-point of the period and again with 1:20 to play in the frame.
Matt Radomsky turned aside nine shots, while the Crusaders could not convert on two power play opportunities and registered 11 shots of their own.
The second period was all Holy Cross as the Crusaders picked up two goals in two-and-a-half minutes in the middle of the frame. On the first goal,
Logan Ferguson picked up his eighth point in his last four games with an assist.
Neil Robinson scored to even the game, 2-2, and tallied his sixth point in his last three games. Radomsky added 16 saves in the middle period.
The teams skated through a scoreless third period. Radomsky finished 60 minutes with 36 saves. Niagara held a 3-0 shot advantage through the five minute 5-on-5 overtime and Radomsky set a new career-high 39 saves in the game.
In the 3-on-3 overtime, each team had three shots on net. In the sudden death shootout,
Jake Pappalardo scored on the Crusaders first attempt to earn the extra point.

Kevin Darrar on a breakaway. Darrar fired a slap shot that bounced over the Niagara netminder's glove and into the goal.

Conner Jean behind the goal. Jean quickly passed to
Neil Robinson at the right faceoff dot, who one-timed a wrist shot to score cleanly.
