WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's soccer team fell to the University of San Diego, 4-0, Sunday afternoon.
The Crusaders held the Toreros scoreless for the first 40 minutes, but the home team broke through on a header off a corner, benefitting from some congestion in front of the net. San Diego would add three more in the second half to get to that final 4-0 mark.
Holy Cross had its chances, including one in the closing minutes when a low cross was playing in from the right side that looked promising, but a shot didn't materialize fast enough and allowed defenders to close in.
The Crusaders will play their home opener this Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7:00 p.m. against Sacred Heart.
