ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Behind another stellar pitching performance from sophomore right-hander Liam Dvorak and a 3-for-3 day by sophomore designated hitter Evan Blum, the Holy Cross baseball team beat Navy, 4-1, in the teams' weekend finale on Sunday, April 7.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Navy delivered three straight two-out singles to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
- Junior shortstop Chris Rinaldi drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the second to knot things up at 1-1.
- Rinaldi again had an RBI with a two-out double in the fourth inning that scored sophomore first baseman Andrew Selima.
- The Crusaders added an insurance run in the fifth after Blum had a single to center, scoring freshman right fielder Ben Malgeri and pushing the Holy Cross lead to 3-1.
- After allowing five hits through the first two innings, Dvorak settled down, allowing just one hit and one walk over his next five innings.
- In the bottom of the eighth, Zach Biggers hit a one-out single for the Mids' first hit since the third inning. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Eric Lopes entered the game in relief and was able to draw the final two outs of the inning.
- With the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, Blum notched a sacrifice fly to score Rinaldi from third and give Holy Cross a three-run lead.
- Lopes secured the final three outs of the game, capping his day with a swinging strikeout, to earn the save and preserve the 4-1 Holy Cross victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Holy Cross improves to 9-24 overall and moves back to .500 in the Patriot League at 5-5. Navy falls to 24-11 overall and 11-3 in conference play.
- Blum has reached base in 15 straight games, recording a career-high three hits on Sunday.
- Dvorak has now won his last four outings and has lowered his ERA to 2.76 on the year.
- Lopes has not allowed a run in his last six appearances and has given up just one hit in that span.

- Holy Cross heads to the University of Rhode Island for a nonconference contest on Wednesday, April 10. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
