Women's Track and Field Places Second at Skyhawk Invite

EASTON, Mass. -- The Holy Cross women's track and field team competed at the Skyhawk Invitational, hosted by Stonehill College, on Saturday, April 27. The Crusaders finished in second place out of 12 teams.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Junior Allie Smiley had an ECAC-qualifying leap of 5.98 meters in her victory in the long jump. Senior Alexandra Curtin had a New England-qualifying mark of 5.65 as she finished in fourth place.
  • Sophomore Abbie Mokwuah placed second and qualified for ECACs with a mark of 14.29 meters in the shot put.
  • Sophomore Christa Jay Moore won the pole vault in a New England-qualifying vault of 3.55 meters.
  • Curtin (12.33 seconds) and senior Sarah Friess (12.48 seconds) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 meter dash, with both posting New England-qualifying times. Smiley was fifth in a time of 12.62 seconds.
  • Senior Isabella DiMare finished in third place in the 400 meter hurdles, clocking in at a New England-qualifying time of 1:03.96.
  • Sophomore Sydney McDonald had a New England-qualifying mark of 1.65 meters as she finished third in the high jump.
  • Senior Lauren Rasmus won the 400 meter dash in a time of 58.21 seconds. Freshman Grace Hoelscher finished in fourth place, clocking in at 59.86 seconds.
  • Sophomore Sophia Haywood won the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing in 11:50.63.
  • Freshman Kelsey O'Hara was fourth in the 800 meter run in 2:19.64, while fellow rookie Emily Koufos was close behind in sixth place at 2:20.54.
  • Freshman Michaela Halloran placed fifth in the 5,000 meter run, posting a time of 18:46.08.
  • Junior Jillian Purtell was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.46 meters.
  • The Crusader contingent of Rasmus, O'Hara, freshman Milly O'Brien and junior Caroline Frey won the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 3:54.83.
  • The 4x100 meter relay team of Curtin, Friess, Smiley and DiMare placed third in a time of 48.80 seconds.

 

NEXT UP:

  • Holy Cross will host the Patriot League Outdoor Championship on May 3 and 4.
