First Inning:

  • The Crusaders started the second game off in style. With runners on first and third with no outs, the Bison purposefully got caught in a pickle between first and second to try to score the runner from third. Bengston threw down to Gutierrez who applied the tag for the first out and then fired a strike to Bengston who got the second out at home.
  • Nelson ended the inning with a backwards K.

Fourth:

  • Bucknell's Nicole Rivait hit the team's second home run of the day, this time a solo shot, to take the 1-0 lead.

Fifth:

  • Brewster started the inning with a double and the Crusaders had runners on first and second with one out after Carley Boothe was hit by a pitch.
  • The Bison got a line out and a ground out to end the inning.

Seventh:

  • Bucknell put runners on second and third with one out, but Nelson got a pop out and a strikeout to keep the deficit at one.
  • In the bottom half, Wahler started the inning with a single, but after a pitching change back to their game one starter, Raeanne Geffert, the Bison were able to get the next three outs to claim the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Chavez and Brewster have reached base safely in each of the last seven games. In that time, Chavez has five hits and six walks and Brewster has four hits, four walks, and has been hit by a pitch twice.
  • With 11 strikeouts on the day, Nelson brings her season total to 127, just 10 short of third-most all-time in a single season in program history.
  • The one run scored by Bucknell in the second game is the fewest runs it has recorded in a conference game this season.

ON DECK:

Holy Cross will play one more against Bucknell, tomorrow at 12 p.m., to finish the season series.
