Softball Drops Two to Marist

WORCETSER, Mass. – The Holy Cross softball team dropped a pair of games to Marist in its home-opening doubleheader Wednesday. The Crusaders lost both games by identical scores of 5-1.

Kelly Nelson came in in relief in the first game and pitched six innings while striking out eight and giving up only two hits and no earned runs. Olivia Sloane started the second game and went five innings, keeping a powerful Red Fox offense scoreless for the first four, and gave up two runs and struck out one.

Marist pitchers had an impressive day, limiting the Crusaders to just two hits over the two games. Taylor Wahler singled and scored in the first game, while Jackie Brewster recorded her second triple of the year and scored in the second game. Bailey Chavez and Erin Bengston each had an RBI on the day.
