Domenic Cozier and senior defensive back
Chris Riley have been selected to the 2019 Division I All-New England football team, as announced by the New England Football Writers' Association. Cozier and Riley were among 33 players from around New England named to the squad, which will be honored at the New England Football Writers' Banquet on Dec. 12 in Saugus, Mass.
Cozier was previously named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, in addition to being a first team All-Patriot League selection. He played in 12 games at tailback this season with 11 starts, and led the team with 1,147 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 181 carries. Cozier also caught 14 passes for 131 yards, and finished the year with 1,278 all-purpose yards. He led the Patriot League in rushing yards, while standing third in all-purpose yards and ninth in scoring. During his career with the Crusaders, Cozier rushed 400 times for 2,225 yards and 18 touchdowns in 40 games played, while catching 39 passes for 325 yards and a score.
Riley was also named first team All-Patriot League this year, after starting all 13 of the Crusaders' games at free safety. He led the team with five interceptions and eight pass breakups, to go along with 74 tackles and two tackles for loss. Riley finished the season ranked first in the Patriot League interceptions, while standing second in passes defended and 17th in total tackles. Over the course of his career with the Crusaders, he totaled 132 tackles, eight interceptions and 12 pass breakups in 34 games played.
Holy Cross concluded the 2019 season with an overall record of 7-6. The Crusaders won the Patriot League title with a 5-1 mark in conference games, and advanced to the NCAA football championship subdivision playoffs.
