Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s hockey defeated at Bentley, 4-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team was defeated by Bentley, 4-1, on Nov. 30. Pete Kessel scored his second goal of the weekend and Beau Collins made his first appearance of the season in net.
 
Early in the first period, the Crusaders were called for a five minute penalty along with a bench minor. Holy Cross defended the five-on-three and had a couple of shorthanded chances. On the penalty kill, Bentley scored to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Matt Radomsky started the game and made six saves in 11:13 minutes before Erik Gordon replaced him due to injury. The Crusaders outshot the Falcons, 10-8, in the frame.
 
The second period saw three goals from Bentley. Despite the Crusaders with a 10-5 shot advantage in the period, the Falcons held a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
 
Holy Cross again outshot Bentley in the third period, 34-22. Beau Collins turned aside all nine shots he faced and the Crusaders scored in the final seconds on a power play, 4-1 .
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
1-0 BEN | 1st – 6:33 PP: Bentley's Jakov Novak rushed into the Crusaders' defensive zone and sent a hard shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that beat Radomsky's five hole.  
2-0 BEN | 2nd – 4:50 EV: Matt Gosiewski scored on an abbreviated breakaway.
3-0 BEN | 2nd – 5:45 EV: From below the right hash marks, Jonathan Desbiens wristed a shot below the crossbar.
4-0 BEN | 2nd – 17:10 EV: Dylan Pitera scored on a rebound in the slot.
4-1 HC | 3rd – 19:48 PP: On a five-on-three power play, Matt Slick sent a puck towards the goal from the center point. On one post Alex Peterson moved the puck across the crease to feed Kessel for a back-door goal.

  • Beau Collins made his 2019-20 season debut and made nine saves.
