WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team was defeated by Sacred Heart, 4-1, at the Hart Center on Nov. 22. Conner Jean scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season as the Crusaders' lone tally.
 
Midway through the first period, Sacred Heart took a 1-0 lead on an even strength goal.  The Crusaders posted nine shots on goal and had one power play opportunity but skated through the period scoreless. Matt Radomsky turned aside 11 shots in the frame.
 
Holy Cross started the second period with a quick goal to even the score. However, not long after the Crusader goal, Sacred Heart found the back of the net on a shorthanded chance and then on the power play to take a 3-1 lead. The shots were at an even 11-11 in the middle frame.
 
Holy Cross pressured offensively in the third period, but Sacred Heart broke through a fourth time with a breakaway goal to cap off the game, 4-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
1- 0 SHU | 1^st – 10:21 EV: On an offensive zone faceoff, Marcus Joseph fired a shot from the center point through traffic to score.
1-1 HC | 2^nd – 2:26 EV: Patrick O'Leary broke up the puck behind the Sacred Heart goal and sent it out to Grayson Constable just below the face off dot. Constable quickly found a wide-open Conner Jean in the high slot for a one-time shot.
2-1 SHU | 2^nd – 5:12 SH: Matt Tugnutt scored on a breakaway.
3-1 SHU | 2^nd – 7:00 PP: Austin McIlmurray scored on a point shot.
4-1 SHU | 3^rd – 10:20 EV: Tugnutt scored on another breakaway, this time using his backhand.
