Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's hockey falls narrowly to Providence, 1-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team fell to Providence, 1-0, Friday night at the Hart Center Rink.

The Crusaders outshot the Friars, 26-23. It marks the second straight game that they have done so. In the first period, Holy Cross held the advantage in shots, 11-7, and came up with a handful of legitimate scoring chances on the power play.

Providence rebounded in the second period and was able to push across a goal with under three minutes to play in the period. Chloe Gonsalves found Bailey Burton for the tally.
The Crusaders outshot the Friars again in the third, 9-5, but again weren't able to get any to go.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Jada Brenon made 22 saves on the night.
  • Five Crusaders tied with a team-high three shots.
  • Holy Cross was perfect on the penalty kill, stopping all three of the Friars' chances.
  • The one-goal margin is the smallest ever between Holy Cross and Providence. The Crusaders lost all three games last season by at least three goals.

The Crusaders travel to the New Hampshire this Sunday, Nov. 3, for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Wildcats.
