BOSTON, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team tied #15/14 Northeastern, 2-2, at Matthews Arena on Oct. 19.
Conner Jean and
Logan Ferguson netted the Crusader goals while
Erik Gordon made 23 saves with five coming in overtime.
The Crusaders (1-1-1) and Huskies (3-0-1) skated through a scoreless first period. Holy Cross held the shot advantage, 6-5, and also picked up four blocks. Six penalties were called in the first 20 minutes, but neither team could convert.
The final five minutes of the second period saw power play goals from both teams. The Crusaders converted on their first power play of the season from
Logan Ferguson. Two minutes later, Northeastern struck in similar fashion.
Northeastern scored just over a minute into the third period to take a 2-1 lead, but
Conner Jean scored his second goal in as many games four minutes later to even up the score line. With under three minutes to play, Holy Cross was called for a penalty and
Anthony Vincent came up big with three blocked shots to help send the game to overtime.
In overtime, Northeastern pressured early and
Bryce Dolan made a defensive play to stop a puck from going over the goal line. The Crusaders killed off 14 seconds of a penalty to end the overtime period and the game with a 2-2 tie.

Logan Ferguson on the back door for an open net.
