WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team fell to Merrimack, 3-1, at the Hart Center.
Conner Jean tallied the lone Crusader goal but two power play goals for Merrimack forced the decision.
Conner Jean picked up his first of the year as he started off the scoring and put the Crusaders (1-1-0) ahead, 1-0, early in the opening frame. Merrimack (1-3-0) responded with a tip-in goal nearly 10 minutes later.
The second period saw a lone Warrior goal early in the frame and on the power play. The Crusaders had three extra-man opportunities in the period but could not level the game. Holy Cross outshot Merrimack, 11-6.
The final period had the Crusaders holding a shot advantage of 12-3 before the Warriors added another power play goal to push the game to 3-1.
