MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Holy Cross softball team defeated Tennessee-Martin, 3-1, and lost to Middle Tennessee State, 4-2.
HIGHLIGHTS AGAINST THE BLUE RAIDERS:
- In the first inning, junior Jackie Brewster doubled to center field and eventually advanced to third on a wild pitch.
- Junior Taylor Wahler also doubled to right center to send Brewster home and scored for the Crusaders.
- In the fourth inning, sophomore Sydney Behrens doubled to right center. Sophomore Sydney Burr hit a double to left field and sent Behrens home.
- Wahler and Burr both recorded RBIs.
- Senior Katy Watson pitched seven innings and recorded four strikeouts.
HIGHLIGHTS AGAINSTHE SKYHAWKS:
- Holy Cross scored all three runs in the fourth inning to defeat the UT Martin, 3-1.
- Wahler got on base after an error by the Skyhawks' third baseman and eventually scored off a fly out by Burr.
- Senior Mandy McCarthy was walked an advanced to second off of Burr's fly ball.
- Senior Taylor Moss tripled to left field, sending McCarthy home.
- Behrens singled to left field, and Moss scored taking the lead to 3-0.
- Junior Alex Held got the win and her first of the season.
