DURHAM, N.H. – New Hampshire quarterback Trevor Knight hit on 22 of 38 passes for 237 yards and four touchdowns, to lead the Wildcats to a 28-0 victory over the Holy Cross football team at Wildcat Stadium. The Crusaders fall to 1-5 on the season with the loss, while the Wildcats improve to 1-4 overall.
Senior quarterback Geoff Wade led the Holy Cross offense by completing 18 of 33 passes for 130 yards, while rushing the ball 19 times for 57 yards. Sophomore defensive back Grant Holloman recorded a career-high 10 total tackles, with senior linebacker Ryan Brady and senior defensive back Akeem Walcott adding eight tackles each. In addition, junior defensive back Alex Johnson recorded the first interception of his collegiate career.
New Hampshire opened the game with a one-yard scoring strike from Trevor Knight to Kieran Presley at the 11:03-mark of the first quarter. The Wildcats made the score 14-0 a few minutes later when Knight found Sean Coyne for a six-yard touchdown.
The score remained the same until the third quarter, when Knight threw touchdown passes of three yards to Justin Malone-Woods and eight yards to Neil O'Connor. Neither team would score the rest of the way, with New Hampshire claiming a 28-point victory.
The Wildcats finished the game with 439 yards of total offense and 23 first downs. The Crusaders recorded 233 total yards and 15 first downs.
Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, Oct. 12, when it travels to Harvard for a 7:00 p.m. game.
