2017 Graduate Vince LaMonte Wins Silver Medal At Under 23 World Championship

PLOVDIV, BULGARIA – Holy Cross Class of 2017 graduate Vince LaMonte won the silver medal at the 2017 Under 23 World Championship in Plovdiv, Bulgaria as a member of the United States lightweight four. 2010 was the last time Team USA won a medal in this event at the Under 23 World Championship.

Team USA posted a time of 6:07.890, just finishing behind Italy which recorded a time of 6:06.540. Indonesia (6:09.410) placed third, while France (6:10.850) was fourth and Germany (6:13.940) was fifth.

LaMonte was a four-year member of the Holy Cross varsity eight. He was a member of the varsity four that placed fourth at the 2016 IRA National Championship and the varsity eight that finished a program-best 17th at the 2015 IRA National Championship. LaMonte was the team captain as a senior, a two-time member of the IRA All-Academic Team and was a 360 Leader in the Holy Cross Leadership Academy.
