The Lead: Junior Zoe Matherne set a new Holy Cross indoor record in the 800-meter run with her time of 2:09.47 at the ECAC Indoor Championship in Boston on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Matherne's time placed her in second place at the preliminaries, as she qualified to compete in the finals. Her time was also just 0.14 seconds off from the school's all-time outdoor record in this event.
- Junior Alanna Hitscherich finished fifth-place in the long jump finals with her mark of 5.64 meters. She additionally competed in the 60-meter hurdles, hitting her season second-best time of 8.87, just missing the qualifying standards for the semifinals by one placement.
- The 4x800-meter relay team of junior Meghan Dietter, junior Claire Turner, Sophomore Katherine Guilbo and freshman Allison McArdle ran their second fastest time this season with their mark of 9:24.60.
- After the second day of competition, Albany stood in first place with 32 points.
BEYOND THE RESULTS:
- Hitscherich was named All-ECAC for her fifth-place finish in the long jump finals.
UP NEXT:
- Matherne will return to action at the ECAC Indoor Championship on Sunday for the finals in the 800-meter run at 1:00 p.m.
