The Lead: With the game tied at 1-1 going into the third period, the Colonials outscored the Crusaders by a 5-2 margin as the No. 5 seed Holy Cross men's hockey team fell to the No. 4 seed Robert Morris, 6-3, at 84 Lumber Arena on Friday evening in game one of a best two-out-of-three Atlantic Hockey Tournament quarterfinal series. The teams return to action tomorrow for game two at 7:05 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead at 17:35 of the first period when senior assistant captain Mike Barrett found the back of the net. Barrett redirected a shot by junior assistant captain T.J. Moore for the power play goal. Junior forward Danny Lopez also posted an assist on the goal.
- The Crusaders outshot Robert Morris, 7-4. The Crusaders went 1-1 on the power play and the Colonials went 0-1.
- Robert Morris tied the game at 1-1 with a power play goal by Alex Tonge at 12:36 of the second period.
- Robert Morris outshot Holy Cross by an 11-6 margin, while the Crusaders went 0-2 on the man-advantage and the Colonials went 1-3.
- At 1:50 of the third period, Spencer Dorowicz gave Robert Morris a 2-1 lead when he scored on a wrist shot from the slot.
- Then just 42 seconds later, Brady Ferguson netted a shorthanded goal on a breakaway to increase the lead to 3-1.
- At 6:11, Daniel Mantenuto scored on a rebound to extend the Robert Morris lead to 4-1.
- Tonge scored his second goal of the game at 9:36 as the Colonials took a 5-1 advantage.
- Junior forward Ryan Ferrill then stole the puck and scored a shorthanded goal at 13:35 to cut the lead to 5-2.
- But as 16:14, Kyle Horsman scored the sixth goal of the game for Robert Morris.
- At 17:54, sophomore forward Mitch Collett found the back of the net for the 6-3 final score. Freshman forward Neil Robinson and sophomore forward Jay Mackie each posted an assist on the goal.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Robert Morris outshot Holy Cross, 27-19.
- Each team went 1-5 on the power play.
- Junior goalie Paul Berrafato made 21 saves, while Francis Marotte recorded 16 to earn the victory.
- The Crusaders won 24 face-offs, while the Colonials secured 37.

- Barrett now has 99 career points with 44 goals and 55 assists.
- Barrett has now played 146 career games, which are tied for sixth all-time in school history.
