The Lead: Junior Katie Conners tied the school's all-time record in the 50-yard freestyle, while the 400-yard medley relay team set a record with a mark of 3:57.86, as the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team continued its action at the second day of competition at the Patriot League Championship on Thursday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Conners' time of 24.30 in the 50-yard freestyle was good for the 22nd-place spot out of 50 swimmers, as Lehigh's Payton Miles captured first place in the race with a time of 22.80. Conners' time tied Gael Carter's mark set at the 2011 Patriot League Championship.
- The team of freshman Kayleigh Hoagland, sophomore Caroline Body and juniors Maura Mullaney and Conners broke their second meet record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:57.86. The former Holy Cross record was set at the 2010 Patriot League Championship. Navy placed first with its time of 3:40.75.
- Freshman Leah Zogby hit a big personal record in the 500-yard freestyle with her mark of 5:22.38. However, Charlotte Meyer of Navy took first in this event with a time of 4:48.40.
- Junior Rachel Marasco was the first Holy Cross swimmer to finish in the 200-yard IM with her time of 2:14.68. Navy also took first in this event with Lauren Barber claiming a time of 1:57.97.
