BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh tailback Dom Bragalone rushed 30 times for 201 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Mountain Hawks to a 34-21 victory over the Holy Cross football team at Goodman Stadium. The Crusaders conclude the season at 4-7 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League, while Lehigh improves to 4-6 on the year and 4-1 in the conference.
The Mountain Hawks opened the scoring at the 10:08-mark of the first quarter on a six-yard scoring run by Bragalone following a blocked punt. Lehigh increased its lead 14-0 a seven-yard touchdown rush by Bragalone, before a 28-yard scoring strike from senior quarterback Peter Pujals to senior wide receiver Blaise Bell made the score 14-7 at halftime.
In the third quarter, a 23-yard Ed Mish field goal and a 33-yard touchdown run by Bragalone gave the Mountain Hawks a 24-7 lead. After a 41-yard field goal by Mish, Pujals found Bell again for a 27-yard touchdown to make the score 27-14. Bragalone later added his fourth touchdown on a 45-yard run, before a 21-yard touchdown run by Pujals concluded the scoring.
WEEKLY AWARDS:
- Following the contest, Pujals was selected also as the Man of the Match presented by the United States Marines.
- He hit on 18 of 36 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing 13 times for 66 yards and another score.
- Senior offensive tackle Charles Steele earned the SERVPRO of South Worcester In the Trenches Lineman of the Game award.
- Steele led an offensive line which allowed Holy Cross to rack up 397 yards of total offense while scoring 21 points.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Crusaders outgained the Mountain Hawks by 28 total yards (397-369), but were unable to overcome two turnovers.
- Junior wide out Martin Dorsey led all Holy Cross receivers with six catches for 94 yards.
- Junior linebacker Ryan Brady posted a game-high 13 tackles with one sack.
- Senior linebacker Nick McBeath added nine tackles and a sack.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Pujals became Holy Cross' all-time leader in career games played (48), career games started (46) and career pass attempts (1,796).
- McBeath (114) and Brady (110) both finished the season with over 100 tackles.
