WORCESTER, Mass. – Colgate quarterback Grant Breneman accounted for 258 yards of total offense and four touchdowns to lead the Raiders to a 45-7 victory over the Holy Cross football team at Fitton Field. The Crusaders fall to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the Patriot League with the loss, while Colgate improves to 4-4 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.
Colgate opened the scoring with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Breneman to Nick Diaco in the first quarter, before Holy Cross tied the game at 7-7 on a seven-yard scoring strike from senior quarterback Peter Pujals to senior wide out Andre Harton. The Raiders then used a 26-yard field goal by Chris Puzzi and a one-yard touchdown run by James Holland to take a 17-7 halftime lead.
Colgate scored two early third quarter touchdowns to take a commanding 31-7 lead, with a 24-yard interception return by Dillon DeIullis and a 59-yard pass from Breneman to Thomas Ives. A pair of touchdown runs by Breneman then concluded the scoring.
WEEKLY AWARDS:
- Following the game, senior linebacker Nick McBeath was selected as the Man of the Match presented by the United States Marines.
- McBeath finished the afternoon with a game-high 18 total tackles
- Junior defensive end Teddy Capsis earned the SERVPRO of South Worcester In the Trenches Lineman of the Game award.
- Capsis totaled three tackles with one quarterback sack.

- Colgate finished with 419 yards of total offense on the day, while Holy Cross recorded 271 total yards.
- The Raiders also forced four turnovers on the day, while giving the ball away only once.
- Junior wide receiver Martin Dorsey caught a game-high seven passes for 52 yards.

- McBeath tied his career high for tackles with 18.
- Dorsey matched his career best for receptions with seven.
