The Lead: The Colonials scored six goals in the first period as the Holy Cross men's hockey team fell to Robert Morris 6-0, on Saturday evening at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Only 2:25 after the opening face-off, Robert Morris took the lead when Sean Giles sent a pass to Alex Bontje, who fired a shot that was saved by junior goalie Paul Berrafato, but Luke Lynch was able to score off the rebound from the left face-off circle.
- During a power play at 6:13 in the first period, Robert Morris' Brady Ferguson passed the puck to Alex Tonge who scored on a wrist shot from the right face-off circle.
- Just 45 seconds later Ferguson added to Robert Morris' lead with a shorthanded breakaway goal as he sent the puck over Berrafato's stick side, making the score 3-0.
- At 10:36 a give and go between Leavens and Ferguson led to a backhanded goal by Leavens to increase the Robert Morris lead to 4-0. It was the Colonials' second shorthanded goal of the game.
- At 11:43 Timmy Moore scored on an assist from Spencer Dorowicz, to give Robert Morris a 5-0 lead in the first period.
- At 15:07 Tonge assisted Moore on his one-timer goal from the slot. The puck was sent over Tommy Nixon's stick side shoulder as the Colonials took a 6-0 to the first intermission.
- At the conclusion of the first period Robert Morris outshot Holy Cross, 13-4, while the Colonials went 2-2 on the power play and the Crusaders went 0-3.
- With a scoreless second period, Holy Cross outshot Robert Morris 13-5.
- Holy Cross went 0-2 on power plays, while Robert Morris was 0-1.
- The Crusaders outshot the Colonials 8-3 in the third period, but were unable to find the back of the net for the 6-0 final score.

- Holy Cross outshot Robert Morris, 25-21.
- The Crusaders went 0-7 on the power play, while Robert Morris went 2-5.
- Berrafato made five saves and allowed five goals, while Nixon posted 10 saves and allowed one goal. Robert Morris goalie, Dalton Izyk, recorded 25 saves to earn a shutout.
- The Crusaders won 31 face-offs, while the Colonials secured 25.
