The Lead: Freshman Kayleigh Hoagland and junior Maura Mullaney combined for four first-place finishes for the Crusaders in a dual meet against Providence, but the women's swimming and diving team lost to the Friars, 179-119 on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Holy Cross swam to a first place finish to open the meet in the 200-meter medley relay with a season-best time of 2:06.34. Making up the squad was sophomores Jenny O'Brien and Caroline Body, as well as Mullaney and junior Katie Conners.
- Hoagland captured first place in the 100-meter backstroke, swimming for a time of 1:07.97, beating her original season-best mark for a new personal record. Hoagland also landed a first-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:01.14.
- Mullaney took first place in both the 200 (2:28.09) and 100 (1:08.69)-meter butterfly events.
- In the 50-meter freestyle, Conners swam for first place with a time of 27.99. Conners also placed second in the 100 (1:01.99) and 200 (2:14.64)-meter freestyles. In the 100-meter freestyle, she was just behind the Friars' first place finisher who recorded a time of 1:01.14.
- For diving, sophomore Casey Sherman took first place in her second one-meter dive with a score of 172.57. Sherman placed second in the first dive with a score of 226.20.
- Body captured second place in the 200-meter breaststroke, with a mark of 2:53.03.
- Freshman Leah Zogby recorded the top time for Holy Cross in the 400-meter freestyle for second place with a season-best time of 4:41.23, setting a new personal record.

- The Crusaders will return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 28 when they host Bryant for senior day.
