WORCESTER, Mass. - Friday, Aug. 26, was an exciting day for the Holy Cross Hockey Program as alumni, friends, family and the current team gathered at the Shining Rock Golf Club in Northbridge, Mass., to kick off the 2016-2017 season at the program's annual golf outing. There were 130 golfers who took to the course, followed by a luncheon and a raffle.
The winning foursome consisted of George Ross '92, Mike Ross '95, John Buccigross and director of Athletics Nathan Pine. The second place foursome was Terrence Butt '95, Jim Adamson, Jesse Sarzana and Kaeghan Kelly, while the team of Matt Werry '08, Chris Trovato '08, Ryan Driscoll '10 and Jace Werry placed third. Butt was the putting contest winner, James Miller won the longest drive contest, Luke Miller '12 won the Par 3 contest and Patrick O'Leary '20 was the closest to the pin winner.
Head coach David Berard would like to thank the tournament sponsors, golfers, hole sponsors and those who donated raffle and silent auction items. It was a tremendous day of fellowship and celebration of the Holy Cross Hockey Program.
The Golf Outing raised $54,000, which included a generous $25,000 donation. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Holy Cross ice hockey program through the Crusader Athletics Fund.
