The Lead: The Holy Cross women's cross country team took seventh place at the National Catholic Championship in Notre Dame, Ind., on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Leading the way for the Crusaders was junior Rachel Sowinski, who notched a 17th-place overall finish, recording a time of 18:34. The next Crusader to cross the finish line was junior Annie Sullivan who took the 24th-place spot with a time of 18:40.
- Finishing 33rd was junior Zoe Matherne who registered a time of 18:54, followed by senior captain Mary Welsh who finished the race in 18:58 for the 38th spot. Rounding off the top five for Holy Cross was senior Caroline Carr who finished 46th with a time of 19:05.
- Notre Dame captured the team title with 31 points, and also had the individual champion with Annie Heffernan placing first in a time of 17:22.
