The Lead: Junior Emily Krisanda (Oak Hill, Va.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored, as the Crusaders fell to Army West Point by a score of 10-2 on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Army jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a pair of runs off RBI singles.
- The Black Knights would add four more runs on five hits in the third inning to make it a 6-0 game in their favor.
- In the fourth, Army made it 7-0 in the top of the inning before Holy Cross responded with a run scored as senior Sarah Kane (Jacksonville, Fla.) was walked with the bases loaded.
- The Black Knights made it 10-1 in the fifth inning, adding three more runs.
- The Crusaders added one more run in the bottom of the fifth, as sophomore Gabby Muniz (Rockport, Mass.) brought home junior Kylee Malouf (Simi Valley, Calif.) with a ground out RBI, but couldn't extend the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Army outhit the Crusaders 11-5.
- Holy Cross left nine runners on base, while the Black Knight left six.
- Senior Gennifer Durham (Abbeville, S.C.) took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits through 2.2 innings pitched.
- Kristen West earned the win for Army, allowing just one run on five hits in 3.2 innings pitched.
