The Lead: Seven different Crusaders notched a first-place finish, as the Holy Cross women's swimming and diving team defeated Iona, 146-142, at the Hart Center on Friday night.

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Freshman Kayleigh Hoagland, sophomore Caroline Body, junior Maura Mullaney and junior Katie Conners finished second in the 200 yard medley, registering a time of 1:55.14 relay to start the meet.
  • Freshman Leah Zogby tallied a second place finish in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:09.72.
  • The Crusaders then tallied four consecutive first-place spots. Junior Nina Sparre finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.17 before Hoagland swam for a time of 1:01.52, finishing first in the 100 yard backstroke. Junior Kelley Kraemer followed with a first-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.22, and Mullaney was first in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:15.76.
  • Conners took second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.58, just behind Iona's Aly Chain (25.07).
  • Sophomore Casey Sherman then dove for a score of 257.61, which was good for first place. Sherman later also took first in the three meter dive with a 258.75 score.
  • Hoagland added another first-place spot for Holy Cross with a time of 54.83 in the 100 yard freestyle.
  • Sophomore Jenny O'Brien was third in the 200 yard backstroke (2:17.23) before Kraemer took first in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:38.98).
  • Zogby swam for second place with a time of 5:24.23 in the 500 yard freestyle, right behind Iona's Kaitlyn Mahon (5:23.12).
  • Mullaney was second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.11, and Hoagland was second in the 200 yard IM (2:14.45).
  • The Crusaders concluded the meet with a second place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay, consisting of Conners, freshman Alicia Vesey, Mullaney and Sparre.
