THE LEAD: Sophomore forward T.J. Moore (Edina, Minn.) recorded a goal and an assist as the Holy Cross men's hockey team fell to Dartmouth, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dartmouth opened the scoring at 9:49 of the first period when Josh Hartley, exited the penalty box and beat sophomore goalie Paul Berrafato (Williamsville, N.Y.) blocker side on a breakaway to make it 1-0 Dartmouth.
- At 12:07 of the first period and with Dartmouth on the power play, Brett Patterson sent a wrist shot from the slot, which beat Berrafato on the stick side to make it 2-0 Dartmouth.
- At 17:20 of the first period, Patterson recorded his second goal of the game as he wristed a shot from the left circle that beat Berrafato glove side to give the Big Green a 3-0 lead.
- Each team recorded 11 shots on goal in the first period as the Big Green went 1-1 on the power play, while the Crusaders went 0-1.
- At 1:55 of the second period Moore blasted a slap-shot from the top of the right circle which beat Charles Grant high on the blocker side to make it 3-1.
- The Crusaders outshot Dartmouth 9- 7 in the second period, while the Big Green went 0-2 on the only two man-advantage opportunities in the second period.
- At 8:36 of the third period, Jack Barre wristed a shot from the right circle which found the back of the net on Berrafato's glove side to give the Big Green the 4-1 lead.
- With 2:53 remaining in the third period, Moore sent a pass to sophomore forward Danny Lopez (Barrington Hills, Ill.) on a two-on-one opportunity, who buried it above Grant's blocker side to make it 4-2.
- With 24 seconds remaining in the third period, Carl Hesler tallied an empty-net goal to make it 5-2 Dartmouth as the Big Green recorded the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Holy Cross outshot Dartmouth 36-28 in the contest.
- Berrafato recorded 23 saves, while Grant tallied 34 saves.
- Holy Cross went 0-2 on the power play, while Dartmouth went 1-3
- Holy Cross won 34 face-offs, while Dartmouth won 22.

- Moore's goal and assist tonight tie him for the team lead in goals with 10.
