  • The Lead: Freshman Lynsey Petersen (Palos Verdes, Calif.) recorded a double-double as the Crusaders fell to Central Connecticut State by scores of 22-25, 25-14, 25-21 and 25-16 in their final game of the Central Connecticut Invitational.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Petersen recorded a double-double with a team-leading 11 kills and 14 digs.
  • Freshman Caroline Wells (Greensboro, N.C.) led Holy Cross with 21 assists.
  • Sophomore M.C. Magner (Northfield, Ill.) led the Crusaders with 16 digs.
  • Raquel Quirarte led the Blue Devils with 20 kills and 19 digs, while Makenna Lommori led with 48 assists.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Sifferlen was named to the Central Connecticut Invitational All-Tournament Team. This is her third selection of the season, and fourth of her career. Sifferlen also received the honor at the 2014 Boston College Invitational, the 2015 Hampton Inn-Vitational and the 2015 UMass Lowell Invitational.
  • Petersen's double-double was her third of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • With the score tied at 20 apiece, the Crusaders outscored Central Connecticut 5-2 to clinch first set.
  • The Blue Devils bounced back in the second set with a strong showing, defeating Holy Cross by a score of 25-14.
  • The Crusaders scored nearly completed a comeback late in the third set, but after a Central Connecticut timeout, the Blue Devils scored the clinching point, winning 25-21.
  • With a 15-5 scoring run, the Blue Devils took control of the fourth set and clinched the match with a score of 25-16.

UP NEXT

  • The Crusaders will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22 as they travel to Army West Point for their first Patriot League match of the season at 7:00 p.m.
