The Lead: Juniors Mandy Sifferlen (Sudbury, Mass.) and Katie McKernan (Sylvania, Ohio) registered a double-double as the Crusaders defeated Lafayette by scores of 26-24, 20-25, 27-29, 25-22 and 15-10 on Friday night in Easton, Pa.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sifferlen notched a double-double with a team-leading 20 kills and 17 digs, while McKernan earned her double-double with 23 assists and 13 digs.
• Freshman Caroline Wells (Greensboro, N.C) led the Crusaders with 24 assists, while sophomore M.C. Magner (Northfield, Ill.) notched a team-leading 26 digs.
• Elizabeth Walsh led Lafayette with 21 kills, while Maria Balus led with 64 assists and Tori Smith led with 21 digs. Balus also earned 19 digs to record a double-double and Smith notched 15 kills to earn a double-double.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Sifferlen's double-double was her ninth this season and 19th of her career.
• McKernan's double-double was her sixth of the season and 26th of her career.
• Sifferlen now has 375 kills on the season, which is the fourth-best in Crusader history. Her average of 3.91 kills per set this season is also the sixth-best by a Crusader.
• Sifferlen now has 802 kills in her career, placing her at sixth-best all-time in school history.
• Sophomore Mary Mullen (Mendota Heights, Minn.) now has 84 blocks this season, which are sixth-best in school history. Her 0.94 blocks per set this season are tied for fourth-best all-time in school history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Crusaders and Leopards engaged in a back-and-forth first set. With the score tied at 24, Holy Cross called a timeout and proceeded to earn the next two points to win the set, 26-24.
• Lafayette notched six-straight points in the second set to give them a commanding lead en route to a 25-20 set win.
• Holy Cross held a 24-22 lead, but was unable to close out the Leopards in the third set. Lafayette won the set 29-27.
• Holy Cross bounced back with a strong showing in the fourth set, overpowering the Leopards in the final moments to win it 25-22.
• The Crusaders would clinch the match with a 15-10 victory in the fifth and final set.

UP NEXT

• The Crusaders return to action tomorrow afternoon, as they take on Navy in Annapolis, Md. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
