The Lead: Three Greyhounds posted double-digit kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Loyola (Md.), 3-0, by scores of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-15 on Sunday afternoon at Reitz Arena in Patriot League action.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Junior Mandy Sifferlen (Sudbury, Mass.) led the Crusaders with 15 kills, while freshman Caroline Wells (Greensboro, N.C.) posted 27 assists and sophomore M.C. Magner (Northfield, Ill.) tallied 12 digs.
- Molly Werts totaled 32 assists and 12 digs for a double-double, while Stacey Kazalas (13), Molly Cichosz (12) and Haley Puddy (11) each tallied over 10 kills for the Greyhounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With the Crusaders trailing 22-13 in the first set, they battled back to win eight of the next 10 points to cut Loyola's lead to 24-21. But a kill by Puddy gave the Greyhounds a 25-21 victory.
- With the Greyhounds leading the second set, 21-19, they took four of the next six points to secure a 25-21 win.
- The Greyhounds controlled the third set leading by as many as 11 points (24-13) and posting a 25-15 match-clinching victory.
UP NEXT
- The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Oct. 9, when they play their home-opener at the Hart Center versus Navy at 4:05 p.m.
