• The Lead: Junior Mandy Sifferlen (Sudbury, Mass.) registered a double-double, but the Crusaders were defeated by Colgate, 3-0, by scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-19 on Friday night at the Hart Center.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sifferlen earned a double-double with a team-leading 16 kills and 13 digs.
• Freshman Caroline Wells (Greensboro, N.C.) led Holy Cross with 20 assists.
• Sophomore M.C. Magner (Northfield, Ill.) notched a team-leading 16 digs.
• Katie Stansbury earned a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs for Colgate, while Amanda Smith also notched 11 kills in the match. Molly Smith also earned a double-double with a team-leading 20 assists and 10 digs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• Sifferlen's double-double was her sixth of the season, and 16th of her career. Sifferlen reached 759 career kills, which are now seventh best all-time in school history.
• Sophomore Mary Mullen (Mendota Heights, Minn.) registered two blocks to give her 75 on the season, which are tied for 10th-best all-time in school history.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• With Colgate leading 22-10, the Crusaders rallied with a remarkable 8-1 scoring run, but were unable to overcome the deficit. The Raiders took the set 25-18.
• Down 24-19, the Crusaders gained some momentum and notched four straight points, but the Raiders were able to take the match in the later stages 25-23.
• Sifferlen registered eight kills, but the Crusaders could not overcome the Raiders, who took the third and final set 25-19.

UP NEXT

• The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Oct. 30, as they take on American in Patriot League action beginning at 7:05 p.m.
