The Lead: Stephanie Slater led the Mountain Hawks with 14 kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Lehigh, 3-0, by scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-20, on Saturday afternoon in Patriot League action.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Junior Mandy Sifferlen (Sudbury, Mass.) led the Crusaders with 13 kills. Freshman Caroline Wells (Greensboro, N.C.) posted 18 assists and sophomore M.C. Magner (Northfield, Ill.) totaled 17 digs.
- Amy Matula tallied 25 assists for Lehigh, while Emily Develle posted 22 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Sifferlen posted double-digit kills for the 18th time this season out of 21 matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mountain Hawks won the first set 25-17. Slater led the way with six kills.
- With Lehigh leading the second set by a 23-22 score, a kill by Slater gave the Mountain Hawks two set points at 24-22. After the Crusaders won the next point on an error by Lehigh, Slater tallied her fifth kill of the set to secure the 25-23 victory.
- With the third set tied at 16-16, Lehigh would go onto to win nine of the next 13 points to earn the 25-20 match-clinching win.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 20, when they host Army West Point in Patriot League action at 7:05 p.m.
