• The Lead: Sophomore guard Robert Champion (Charlotte, N.C.) scored a career-high 13 points, but the Holy Cross men's basketball team was defeated by Colgate 74-60 at Cotterell Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Crusaders opened the night with a quick 6-2 spurt, before the Raiders scored the next four points to tie the game at 6-6.
• Holy Cross was later up by one point (14-13), before Champion scored five straight points to make the score 19-13.
• The Crusaders were still up by three (25-22) with 6:16 to play in the first half, when Colgate went on an 11-2 run to pull ahead (33-27).
• The Raiders would eventually lead 35-32 heading into the locker room.
• Colgate opened the second half by hitting its first six shots, while extending its lead to 12 points (48-36).
• The Raiders were later up by 11 (50-39) with 11:54 remaining, when they used an 11-4 spurt to go in front by 18 (61-43).
• Holy Cross would get no closer than 13 points the rest of the way, as Colgate went on to post a 14-point victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Colgate hit 65.9 percent of its field goal attempts on the night (27 of 41), including 83.3 percent in the second half (15 of 18).
• Holy Cross was only able to make 37.9 percent of its shots from the floor (22 of 58).
• Champion made all four of his field goal attempts in the game, in addition to posting four steals and three rebounds.
• Senior forward Malcolm Miller (Laytonsville, Md.) finished the game with 14 points and three rebounds.
• Sophomore forward Malachi Alexander (Bowie, Md.) added 11 points and seven rebounds.
• The Raiders were led by Damon Sherman-Newsome with 30 points on 11 of 14 shooting from the field.
