- The Lead: The Holy Cross women's tennis team was defeated by Providence, 7-0, in a non-conference match on Sunday morning at the Providence Tennis Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Holy Cross No. 3 doubles duo of junior Cassy Deng (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and sophomore Izzy Bagi (Branford. Conn.) defeated Katie Marvin and Ali Marie Sullivan, 8-4, but the Friars picked up wins in the other two doubles matches to earn the point. The doubles win was the first of the season for both Bagi and Deng in dual matches.
- Crusader No. 1 singles player, senior Taylor Stathis (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.), lost her match to Alana Prinos, 6-4, 6-2, while Holy Cross junior Jaclyn Carroll (Tewksbury, Mass.) was defeated in her No. 2 singles match by Jennifer DeLuca, 6-2, 6-1.
