• The Lead: Harvard tailback Andrew Casten ran the ball 17 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns, to lead the Crimson to a 41-18 victory over the Holy Cross football team.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Sophomore wide receiver Jake Wieczorek (Cumming, Ga.) had a career-high 11 receptions for 98 yards, while sophomore tailback Gabe Guild (Overland, Park, Kan.) added 44 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
• Sophomore quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) completed 26 of 41 passes for 233 yards, while running the ball 14 times for 31 yards.
• Freshman linebacker Nick McBeath (Miami, Fla.) led the Crusader defense with seven total tackles, while sophomore linebacker Kyle Young (Roxbury, N.J.) added six tackles and a fumble recovery.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Harvard opened the scoring at the 10:51-mark of the first quarter on a three-yard touchdown run by Casten.
• Holy Cross responded with a one-yard scoring run by Guild, and the Crimson led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.
• Harvard came back with a seven-yard touchdown run by Scott Hosch, before a pair of field goals from sophomore placekicker Zane Wasp (Port Washington, N.Y.) made the score 14-12 at halftime.
• The Crusaders took an 18-14 lead early in the third quarter on five-yard run by Guild.
• But the Crimson would score touchdowns on their next two possessions, with a five-yard pass from Conner Hempel to Anthony Firkser and an 18-yard run by Casten, to go in front 27-18.
• Harvard added a three-yard scoring run by Casten and a 21-yard touchdown pass from Hempel to Ryan Halvorson in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.
