The Lead: Trent Ruffolo, Stu Wilson and Mike Doherty scored Yale's three goals to defeat the Holy Cross men's hockey team, 3-0 on Tuesday at the Hart Center in non-conference action. Holy Cross now falls to an overall record of 7-6-4. With the win, Yale improves to 7-3-2 overall. The loss concludes the Crusaders' four-game winning streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Yale took an early lead in the first period with a goal from Ruffolo. Frankie DiChiara tipped a shot from Rob O'Gara and Ruffolo scored on the rebound from DiChiara's shot at 11:23.
- Yale outshot Holy Cross 19-7 in the first period while each team went 0-1 on the power play.
- During the second period, Yale widened its lead with two goals. While on a power play, Wilson sent a one timer over the shoulder of Matt Ginn (Lindsay, Ontario) for Yale's second goal of the game.
- Doherty scored Yale's third goal of the night while on a power play. Ryan Hitchcock passed the puck from behind the net to Doherty, who shot it over the glove of Ginn.
- Holy Cross was outshot by Yale 9-4 in the second period.
- The third period remained scoreless, despite the Crusaders' attempts to score during a power play. Holy Cross did not capitalize on either of its power plays throughout the game, while Yale scored on two of its five power plays.
- Yale's shots on net outnumbered the Crusaders' 12-10 in the final period of the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Yale outshot Holy Cross 40-21.
- The Bulldogs went 2-5 on the power play, while the Crusaders went 0-2.
- Ginn recorded 37 saves, while Alex Lyon posted 21 to earn the shutout.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Yale now leads the all-time series 6-1-0. Holy Cross had its only victory against Yale on Dec. 30, 2012.
- Ginn earned the third star of the game, while Ruffolo received the second star and Lyon was named the first star.
UP NEXT:
- The Crusaders return to action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 2-3, when they host Atlantic Hockey opponent Air Force at the Hart Center at 7:05 p.m. The Crusaders are tied for second place in the Atlantic Hockey standings with 16 points (6-1-4), while the Falcons are in ninth place with nine points (4-5-1).
