THE BASICS:
• Score: Holy Cross 27, Lehigh 20

• The Lead: Sophomore quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) accounted for 245 yards of total offense and two touchdowns, as the Holy Cross football team posted a 27-20 victory over Lehigh at Fitton Field. Pujals completed 14 of 23 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown, while rushing 12 times for 70 yards and another score.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Mountain Hawks opened the scoring at the 7:55-mark of the first quarter on a 20-yard field goal by Ryan Pandy.
• The Crusaders tied the game at 3-3 in the second quarter with a 28-yard field goal from junior placekicker Connor Fitzgerald (Bloomington, Ind.), and claimed the lead with just 1:01 left before halftime on an 11-yard touchdown run by Pujals.
• Junior linebacker John Zakrzewski (Traverse City, Mich.) then intercepted a pass on Lehigh's next possession, and Pujals hit sophomore wide receiver Jake Wieczorek (Cumming, Ga.) with a 27-yard scoring strike to put Holy Cross up 17-3 heading into the locker room.
• Nick Shafnisky found Troy Pelletier for a 58-yard touchdown pass on the Mountain Hawks' opening drive of the third quarter, but the Crusaders came right back with a three-yard scoring run by sophomore tailback Gabe Guild (Overland Park, Kan.) to lead 24-10.
• Pandy then connected on a 38-yard field goal, before Fitzgerald hit a 34-yard field goal to put Holy Cross up 27-13 heading to the fourth quarter.
• An 11-yard touchdown run by Brandon Yosha made the score 27-20 with 3:44 left to play, and Lehigh would get one last possession with less than two minutes remaining.
• But an interception by junior cornerback Steven Martinez (Dallas, Texas) with 1:17 to go sealed the win for the Crusaders.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Senior wide receiver Tyler Artim (Whitehall, Pa.) finished the game with four receptions for 80 yards, while Guild rushed 15 times for 41 yards.
• Zakrzewski led the Holy Cross defense with 11 tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception and a pass breakup.
• Lehigh was led by Troy Pelletier, who had 10 receptions for a career-high 214 yards.
