THE BASICS:
• Score: Georgetown 21, Holy Cross 16

• The Lead: Sophomore tailback Gabe Guild (Overland Park, Kan.) totaled 138 yards from scrimmage, but the Holy Cross football team was defeated by Georgetown 21-16 at the Multi-Sport Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Holy Cross opened the scoring at the 6:10-mark of the first quarter on a 31-yard field goal by junior placekicker Connor Fitzgerald (Bloomington, Ind.).
• Georgetown responded with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Nolan to Matthew Buckman in the second quarter, to lead 7-3 at halftime.
• The Crusaders opened the second half by marching 68 yards in nine plays, with senior quarterback Ryan Laughlin (Glen Mills, Pa.) running four yards for a touchdown to make the score 10-7.
• But the Hoyas came right back with a 37 yard scoring strike from Nolan to Justin Hill on their next possession to pull back in front.
• Georgetown then made the score 21-10 with a three-yard touchdown run by Joel Kimpela in the fourth quarter.
• Holy Cross would conclude the day with a two-yard scoring strike from Laughlin to senior wide receiver Tyler Artim (Whitehall, Pa.) on the final play of the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Guild rushed 13 times for 92 yards and caught six passes for 46 yards.
• Laughlin hit on 14 of 23 passes for 113 yards and a score, while rushing nine times for 25 yards.
• Junior linebacker John Zakrzewski (Traverse City, Mich.) led the Crusader defense with career-high 14 total tackles.
