The Lead: Freshman Alexandria Benoit (Chester, N.J.) was the top finisher for the Holy Cross women's cross country team, crossing the finish line in 40th at 10:54.60, as the Crusaders took a 10th place finish at the Central Connecticut Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park on Friday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Following Benoit was freshman Zoe Matherne (Camp Hill, Pa.) in 53rd at 11:04.27 as she edged out classmate Annie Sullivan (Southborough, Mass.) by 15 seconds, finishing in 54th at 11:04.42. 
• Freshman Erin Ahearn (Ringwood, N.J.) crossed the finish line close behind Sullivan, taking 57th with a time of 11:08.29. 
• Junior Catherine Gildea (Milford, Conn.) took 74th (11:23.85) while sophomore Rachel Sowinski  (Mountain Top, Pa.) took 79th (11:27.86) and freshman Elizabeth Lombardo (Wakefield, Mass.) rounding out the top Crusader finishers in 88th at 11:35.31. 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE

• Holy Cross finished in 10th out of 20 teams with a score of 278, as Boston College finished in first with a team score of 52. 
• Freshman Brianna Ilarda of Providence crossed the finish line in first at 9:59.14

UP NEXT

• The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 as they send select runners to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Patriot League Championship.
