THE BASICS:

• The Lead: Brown's Grant Senne kicked a 23-yard field goal in the second overtime, to lift the Bears to a 27-24 victory over the Holy Cross football team at Brown Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After the teams went to overtime tied at 17-17, Marcus Fuller threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Brian Strachan to give Brown a 24-17 lead.
• The Crusaders came back with a 21-yard scoring strike from sophomore quarterback Peter Pujals (Glenview, Ill.) to junior wide receiver Kalif Raymond (Lawrenceville, Ga.) to tie the game at 24-24.
• But Holy Cross was unable to score on its possession in the second overtime, before Senne kicked the game-winning field goal.
• The Crusaders had opened the game by taking a 7-0 lead in the second quarter on a nine-yard scoring run by sophomore tailback Gabe Guild (Overland Park, Kan.).
• Early in the third quarter, Brown tied the score on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Troy Doles to Strachan.
• The Bears went on to claim the lead on a 12-yard scoring strike from Fuller to Strachan, then made the score 17-7 early in the fourth quarter on a 40-yard field goal by Senne.
• But the Crusaders responded with a 28-yard field goal from junior placekicker Connor Fitzgerald (Bloomigton, Ind.), before Guild scored on a one-yard run with 1:20 remaining to tie the score at 17-17 and force overtime.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
• Pujals completed 30 of 44 passes on the day for 252 yards, in addition to rushing for 21 yards on eight carries.
• Sophomore wide receiver Brendan Flaherty (Beverly, Mass.) added a career-high 11 receptions for 95 yards, while Guild rushed for 29 yards on 10 carries.
• On the defensive side of the ball, junior linebacker John Zakrzewski (Traverse City, Mich.) had a team-best 10 tackles.
• Fuller led Brown by completing 20 of 37 passes for 240 yards, while Strachan caught eight passes for 98 yards.
