#25 Holy Cross Downs Dartmouth 34-14 On Homecoming

Video: Holy Cross-Dartmouth Highlights

WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) completed 26 of 36 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns, to lead the 25th-ranked Holy Cross football team to a 34-14 victory over Dartmouth at Fitton Field on Homecoming Weekend. Following the contest, Randolph received the Johnny Turco Memorial Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the Crusaders' Homecoming Game. Randolph, who also won the award in 2007, joins Joe Segreti (1988 and 1990) as only the second two-time Turco Award winner. Holy Cross improves to 5-1 overall with the win, while the Big Green falls to 0-5 with the loss.

The Crusaders opened the scoring at the 11:02-mark of the first quarter on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Randolph to sophomore wide receiver Charles McCall (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.). In the second quarter, freshman tailback Eddie Houghton (Toronto, Ontario) scored on a five-yard run to increase the Holy Cross lead to 13-0. Sophomore tailback Matt Bellomo (Holliston, Mass.) then added a three-yard touchdown run, and the Crusaders were up 20-0 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Randolph threw a 16-yard scoring strike to junior wide receiver Luke Chmielinski (Walpole, Mass.). Randolph then found senior wide receiver Nick Cole (Tuscon, Ariz.) with a two-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter, and Holy Cross led 34-0. Dartmouth would find the end zone twice in the final five minutes of play to conclude the scoring. Connor Kempe tossed a pair of touchdown passes, to Tanner Scott for 16 yards and to Niles Murphy for four yards.

Bellomo finished the day with 91 rushing yards on 11 attempts, in addition to posting a team-best seven receptions for 46 yards. Junior defensive end Mude Ohimor (Stoughton, Mass.) had two sacks to lead the defense, while senior cornerback Michael Wright (Fort Washington, Md.) added an interception, a forced fumble and four pass breakups.

Holy Cross returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 24, when it plays host to Colgate at 1:00 p.m.
