Final Stats

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Junior quarterback Dominic Randolph (Amelia, Ohio) completed 22 of 33 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns, to lead the Holy Cross football team to a 55-0 victory over Georgetown at Fitton Field. The Crusader defense held the Hoyas to just 65 yards of total offense on the day, while posting its third shutout in the last four seasons. Holy Cross improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League with the victory, while Georgetown falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Holy Cross opened the scoring on its first possession of the game, when freshman wide receiver Josh Jenkins (Maywood, Ill.) ran 17 yards for a touchdown on a reverse. The Crusaders found the end zone again the next time they had the ball, with junior tailback Mike Kielt (Southbury, Conn.) scoring on a one-yard run. Junior placekicker Matt Partain (Libertyville, Ill.) then added a 21-yard field goal to make the score 17-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Holy Cross offensive onslaught continued in the second quarter, with Randolph tossing touchdown passes of 12 yards to senior tight end Ryan McGuire (Woburn, Mass.) and 15 yards to senior wide receiver Ryan Maher (Boca Raton, Fla.). Partain would add a 26-yard field goal, and Kielt would make his way into the end zone again, from nine yards out, making the score 41-0 at halftime. The Crusaders outgained the Hoyas 439 yards to 33 yards in the first half, while posting 23 first downs to Georgetown's one.

Holy Cross added two more touchdowns in the second half to conclude the scoring. Randolph and senior quarterback Brian McSharry (Abington, Mass.) both scored on one-yard runs.

Maher led all Holy Cross receivers with five catches for 83 yards, as nine different Crusaders caught passes. Six different players also rushed for at least 20 yards, led by sophomore running back Nick Cole (Tucson, Ariz.) with 89 yards on 15 carries. All told, Holy Cross finished with 614 yards of total offense, its highest total in a single game since running up 642 yards in a 63-53 victory over Lafayette on Oct. 20, 2001.

Defensively, the Crusaders were led by senior linebacker Mark Kelliher (Whitman, Mass.) with seven total tackles. Sophomore linebacker Marcus Rodriguez (Peoria, Ariz.) added six tackles and a fumble recovery, while sophomore linebacker Sean Lamkin (Jenks, Okla.) totaled five tackles, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.

The Crusaders return to action next Saturday, Sept. 29, when they play host to Yale at Fitton Field. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m., in a contest which will be shown live on CN8.
